Vivian Zhang, MSW, RSW, founded Inner Room after watching the same pattern repeat: capable people grinding through burnout, imposter syndrome, and relational strain while looking completely fine from the outside. The waiting lists were long. The intake forms were generic. The therapy on offer rarely accounted for the full context of someone's life—the career pressure, the cultural weight, the way it all compounds.
Inner Room exists because that gap exists.
There is no shortage of therapy options. There is a shortage of the right fit. The way you pick EY over Deloitte, or Harvard over Princeton, is not usually about credentials alone. They both have the credentials. It is about fit. Inner Room is for people who need a therapist who does not just nod, but genuinely gets the terrain. The overperformer's terrain. The immigrant family's script. The invisible weight of being the one everyone else leans on.
Our therapists have not lived one life. They have lived a few. Mo understands the relentless pressure of systemic expectations and the exhaustion of constantly adapting. Christina brings a deep understanding of complex family dynamics and the quiet toll of navigating environments in transition. Shawna weaves a beautiful thread between achieving at a high level, being a top leader in her field, and effortlessly embracing life as it is. She has navigated what it means to do things on your own while being part of the sandwich generation, emerging with grace and compassionate boundaries. Vivian knows the challenge of existing in spaces built for someone else, and the necessity of carving out your own path. These are not credentials. They are context. They are the reason a client can walk in and feel recognized rather than processed.
You deserve more than a three-month waitlist and a generic intake form. Every session at Inner Room is virtual, confidential, and built around the reality that you have a full life and you are still trying to make it better.
Our Team
Our team consists of four Registered Social Workers (MSW, RSW) in good standing with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers. They hold the credentials AND the lived context. That combination is what makes the work practical, not just validating.
Social work training means we do not look at the symptom in isolation. We hold the workload, the relationships, the systems, and the history in the room with you.
