Therapeutic Approach
I believe that a strong, trusting relationship is at the core of meaningful therapy. My role is to understand what you want from therapy and how I can best support you.
As someone who grew up in different countries, I bring a broad perspective to understanding what impacts you. Rather than viewing individuals in a vacuum, I use an approach that considers all the relationships in your life as well as the influence of systemic issues. That includes you in any of your relationships (romantic, friendship, and family) and with society or even different cultures.
In my previous work as a lawyer, my clients often suffered the effects of structural inequalities that legal solutions alone couldn’t address. This led me to pursue social work, where I could focus on offering deeper support to individuals facing these challenges.
I draw from a variety of therapeutic approaches, including Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT), Narrative Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT), and Solution-Focused Therapy (SFT). But ultimately, it’s not about the modality—it’s about what works best for you.
I’ve also worked with many individuals around the impacts of a mental health concern or disability as a counsellor at a university’s accessibility services. Many of the clients I’ve worked with shared their late stage diagnosis around their mental health (anxiety, depression) or neurodivergence (such as ADHD, autism, and AuDHD).
