Four therapists, one fit for you Registered Social Workers · Virtual sessions across Ontario

Individual therapy is one-on-one work with a registered social worker: a private, structured space to understand what's driving your anxiety, burnout, low mood, or relationship patterns, and to change it. Research consistently shows the therapeutic relationship is one of the strongest predictors of outcome, regardless of approach. Approaches at Inner Room include ACT, CBT, DBT, EFT, mindfulness-based, and psychodynamic therapy, offered virtually across Ontario.

The approach

How we work

Evidence-based approaches tailored to what you bring in.

Sessions are 50 minutes. The approach depends on your therapist and what you bring in, but the collective expertise and toolkit at Inner Room spans six evidence-based approaches.

EFT & ACT

Working with what's underneath the surface patterns at the level of emotional experience, and loosening the hold of thoughts that keep you stuck.

CBT, DBT & Sensorimotor

Practical tools for shifting thought and behaviour patterns, plus body-based trauma work for what words can't fully reach.

Narrative & Mindfulness

Examining the stories you carry about yourself and deciding which ones to keep, with practices for being here without judgment.

Transparent pricing

Insurance: Sessions with a Registered Social Worker (RSW) are covered by most extended health plans in Ontario. OHIP does not cover private therapy. You pay after each session and submit the receipt we provide for reimbursement. Read the insurance guide

Direct billing: We don't bill insurers directly, and here's what that means in practice: you pay after each session, we issue a detailed RSW receipt immediately, and most clients submit through their insurer's app in under two minutes. Reimbursement typically lands within days. Every plan is different, so we keep the paperwork exact and let your insurer do the rest.

Cancellation: 24 hours' notice required. Full session fee charged for late cancellations and no-shows.

You might be here if

Something keeps bringing you back to the same place.

Anxiety runs through nearly every hour at work, at home, and during the in-between

You're high-functioning and burning out from it

You hold yourself to standards that are quietly costing you

Something shifted in you and now you're lost or you can't find your way back to yourself

You know something needs to change but you can't see how from where you're standing

You don't have to keep carrying it alone.

The consultation is 15 minutes with the therapist you choose. No pressure, no intake marathon. If we're the right fit, you'll know.

Frequently Asked Questions

What does individual therapy cost?Sessions are $170 with Christina, Mo, and Shawna, and $195 with Vivian. If you're a student, the rate is $130 with any therapist. HST is exempt. See the full therapy cost guide and insurance guide.

Is individual therapy covered by insurance?OHIP does not cover private individual therapy. Most extended health plans do cover sessions with a Registered Social Worker (RSW). You pay after each session and submit the receipt we provide to your insurer. We don't offer direct billing as each company (and departments of a company) can have different insurance plans. See the insurance guide for details.

How do I find the right therapist? The 15-minute consultation is the best step to finding your right therapist. During the consultation, you meet the therapist, share what you're dealing with, and both of you decide on the fit. If you're not sure who to book with first, email info@innerroom.ca and we'll help you figure that part out.

What's a red flag when choosing a therapist?A good therapist explains their approach clearly, respects your pace, and you feel heard within the first few sessions. Red flags include anyone who guarantees outcomes, pushes one method as the answer to everything, or makes you feel judged. Credentials matter: look for MSW RSW or RP registration, which means regulated training and accountability to a college.

How long does individual therapy take? There's no fixed timeline. Some people resolve a specific issue in 6 to 8 sessions. Deeper patterns usually take months of steady work. Your therapist will give you an honest read after the first few sessions, and you can always reassess together.

What happens in the first session?Your therapist asks what's bringing you in, what you want to be different, and a bit of your history. You ask them anything. There's no pressure to commit beyond the first session. Most people know within one or two sessions whether the fit is right.

Is virtual therapy as effective as in-person?es. Research on telehealth delivery shows outcomes comparable to in-person therapy for anxiety, depression, burnout, and most concerns people bring to individual therapy. Sessions at Inner Room are virtual across Ontario.

What approaches do your therapists use?Collectively our therapists work with Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Sensorimotor Psychotherapy, Narrative Therapy, and mindfulness-based approaches. The approach depends on your therapist and what you bring in.
