How we work

Approaches we draw from

The approach depends on your therapist and what you bring in.

Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT)

Working with what's underneath the surface patterns, at the level of emotional experience — for individuals and couples.

Acceptance & Commitment (ACT)

Loosening the hold of thoughts that keep you stuck, and reconnecting with what actually matters to you.

CBT & DBT

Practical tools for shifting thought and behaviour-based patterns, plus emotional regulation skills.

Sensorimotor Psychotherapy

Body-based trauma work for what words can't fully heal or work through.

Narrative Therapy

Examining the stories you carry about yourself and deciding which ones to keep or archive.

Mindfulness-Based Approaches

Practicing being in the here and now without judgment, with a dose of objectivity.

Pricing & insurance

What it costs

All fees HST-exempt. Receipts for insurance reimbursement after every session.

Insurance: Registered Social Workers (RSW) are covered by most extended health plans in Ontario. You pay after each session and submit your receipt to your insurer — most clients do this through their insurer's app in under two minutes. OHIP does not cover private psychotherapy.

You might be here if

Something isn't working, and you can feel it.

Maybe you can explain it logically, but that doesn't resolve the feeling.

You're high-functioning and burning out from it.
You hold yourself to standards that are quietly costing you.
You keep having the same conflict that ends the same way.
You want to find your way back to each other.
You've spent years being told you're too much.
You're exhausted from maintaining the appearance of having it together.

Something brought you here.

The consultation is 15 minutes with any of our four therapists. No pressure, no intake marathon. If we're the right fit, you'll know.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which therapy service is right for me?If you're not sure, book a free 15-minute consultation. We'll help you figure out whether individual, couples, ADHD, or student therapy fits — or whether we're not the right fit and point you somewhere better. You can also browse each service page: individual therapy, couples therapy, ADHD therapy, or student therapy.

Is therapy covered by insurance in Ontario?Sessions with a Registered Social Worker are covered by most extended health plans. Plans that commonly include MSW RSW coverage: Sun Life, GreenShield, Canada Life, Medavie Blue Cross, TELUS Health, and Desjardins. We provide a receipt after every session. We do not offer direct billing. See our insurance guide for details.

Is therapy covered by OHIP?No. OHIP does not cover private psychotherapy. It is covered by extended health plans through your employer or post-secondary institution.

How do I find the right therapist?Book a 15-minute consultation. You meet the therapist, share what you're hoping to work through, and both of you decide whether it feels like the right fit. You're not locked into anything. If you're unsure who to start with, email info@innerroom.ca or text/call 647-957-1822.

What happens in a first therapy session?Your therapist will ask what brought you in, what's been going on, and what you're hoping for. There's no pressure to perform or to have your story perfectly organized. It's a conversation. To learn more about what happens in your first therapy session, read what happens in your first therapy session.

How do I book an appointment?Start with a 15-minute consultation. If it's a good fit, we book your first session from there. No waitlist. No referral needed.

Is everything confidential?Yes. Sessions are held on JaneApp Video, a PHIPA-compliant platform built for Canadian healthcare. What you share stays between you and your therapist within the privacy of your own space. The legal exceptions are: risk of serious harm to yourself or others, child welfare concerns, or a court order.

What if I'm not sure if therapy is right for me?Most people aren't sure. The consultation is a great way to check that out. You can talk and ask questions. There's no commitment or pressure. If therapy isn't the right fit, we'll say so and point you toward other resources.

What is virtual therapy like?Sessions happen over secure video on JaneApp (PHIPA-compliant, no downloads required) or by phone. You can be anywhere in Ontario. Most clients find virtual therapy removes the hardest part of starting — no commute, no parking, no waiting room. See our virtual therapy guide for the full picture.

Do I need a referral or diagnosis? No. You don't need a referral, a diagnosis, or a clear problem to start. Many clients come in with something vague like 'I'm stressed' or 'I don't feel like myself.' The consultation is exactly for figuring that out.

What happens in the 15-minute consultation?A short conversation with the therapist to get to know each other. You can share what's on your mind, ask questions about how they work, and get a sense of whether it feels like the right fit. If it is, you book your first session. If it isn't, we'll say so honestly and point you towards better resources.

How quickly can I start? There's no waitlist. Most clients book their consultation within the week and start sessions within one to two weeks of the consult.
